Midway Enterprises Inc. was originally established in 1981, at which time it was a prime player in residential land development and infrastructure in the greater Chicagoland area.
The company was acquired by Steven J. Potokar in 1991, after Steve spent 13 years holding executive positions with Bechtel Power, Pepper Construction Company, and McDevitt-Street-Bovis, constructing a variety of projects across the greater United States. Steve’s goal was to utilize his valued experience to immediately shift Midway’s focus to the commercial sector, targeting many relationships he had already established. Very rapidly Midway became involved with a menagerie of projects, from retail buildings, auto dealerships, office buildings, and hotel work; new and renovations.
It was Steve’s mission to assemble a solid management team who also possessed prior years’ experience with ENR Top 100 firms, who were ready to shed the bureaucratic red tape and eager to operate on a more personal level. It was also Steve’s intent to establish Midway as a rock solid medium sized firm in an effort to continuously promote, pledge, and follow through with having the ability to tackle virtually any project, yet remain attentive to the client’s needs.
Midway has successfully unified a management team, who have effectively intertwined the old school approach with today’s modern technologies, in an effort to insure the project’s success while creating trusting and lasting client relationships.
